In High Voltage systems, insulations between conductors deteriorate over time due to wear and tear and weather conditions. Incipient faults may arise and lead to some electrical discharge/leakage in the system. If the problem goes unnoticed, it will pose an eminent danger of a flashover or electrical fire.
